My Role Event Design and Planning

Objective As a part of our community engagement, we asked our local community members to join us for a talk exploring the world of political posters and protest art, and how it has evolved throughout history. From the earliest forms of protest art in the 1500s to the contemporary mediums of murals, graffiti, and political cartoons, the power of graphics to symbolise and inspire social and political change has never wavered.

Process

This talk provided a fascinating, in-depth look at the rich and complex history of protest graphics, highlighting the creativity and impact of artists and citizens alike.

Our guest speaker Josephine Waite discussed how her illustration practice has been a vehicle for her to express social and political discontent.

Together we made our own posters and gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protest art in our collective history and learn how it continues to inspire and provoke change today.
